Climate Change and Environment
Students represent a top priority for the global development stakeholders, and a new generation of support. An estimated half a million student, from primary school to university, participate worldwide in global programs each year. However, student community is not well informed on the adverse effects of climate change. There is little accessible literature, promotional materials like banners, leaflets, manuals and all the related IEC materials on climate change. Further, there has never been a structural entry point to institutions of higher learning for such campaigns. Also, there is lack of a coordinated approach or strategy of climate change activities amongst stakeholders, mainly between the students on one hand and the other public, private and CSO players on the other hand to address the phenomenon.
Through these Climate change Awareness projects, these hence play a crucial role in disseminating useful climate information to effectively guide public debate and understanding about the weather, climate and climate change concept . Through the various activities to be implemented in the currency of this campaign, the students community in primary schools, secondary and universities will get acquainted with climate change camping at the global level and engage in local activities like tree planting to contribute towards the global action., also, the various conference and training workshops will build skills and capacities and sensitize and empower the various student leaders to be change agents in the battle against unsustainable practices and hence contribute towards the campaign. Finally, the caravans and public dialogue will enhance the public awareness on the topic and promote good will and ownership of various initiatives.
